July 31, 2009 in the Cultural Center «Rukh Ordo» named after Ch. Aytmatov held an informal summit of the CSTO state - participants. President of the Kyrgyz Republic - Kurmanbek Bakiyev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Russian Federation - Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Republic of Belarus - Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Tajikistan - Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Islam Karimov and President of Armenia - Serzh Sargsyan attended the summit.

Presidents, as well as CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha, walk along the alleys and arrived at the meeting place, the House-museum of Ch. Aytmatov, the discussion was behind closed doors. The ways of countering international terrorism and religious extremism, further development and increasing the effectiveness of the organization's activities were discussed, they also exchange with views on topical issues of international life. The presidents agreed on the conducting of a coordinated information policy and supported the initiative of Kyrgyzstan to establish a permanent International Youth Center of the CSTO member states on the shore of Issyk-Kul.

At the end of the meeting, the Heads of State of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic signed a Memorandum on further development and improvement of the bilateral legal base that is governing the stay of Russian military formations on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and the deployment of an additional Russian military contingent on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Kurmanbek Bakiyev and Nikolai Bordyuzha gave this information at the press conference held in the arbor of the «Treasury of Knowledge»of the Center.

The meeting ended with a working lunch, which was held in the «Concert hall», on behalf of the President of Kyrgyzstan in honor of the distinguished guests. The feast was accompanied by a concert program.
